Washing a poopy swim diaper

So, dd is pretty much potty-learned, but I still use a swim diaper. She has a couple of the iplay plain white ones, but today wore her adorable iplay swimsuit (with the bottoms being a swim diaper). Well, after almost 3 weeks (!) of all poops on the potty, she pooped in it today at the pool 😁😩 I've got her in paper pull-ups at night, so there isn't anything I can wash on very hot to sanitize it with...but wouldn't that be damaging to the swimsuit material anyway? I've rinsed with diaper sprayer in the toilet, but now I'm not sure how to get it super clean. Help!

What I've done is to put the gross thing (poopy diaper or whatever) in the washer and run a small hot pre-wash to really rinse it well. Then I add whatever else is dirty and wash a load on warm or maybe hot. Haven't ruined anything yet.

Well, I did the hot quick wash w no detergent (seemed the best option on my front loader) then a load of clothes on warm. Ew. Still stunk like poop...thankfully clothes came out okay lol. I sunned it inside-out all day, but it's still gross. I'm SO bummed. Any ideas at all to salvage this adorable swim diaper?

Re: Washing a poopy swim diaper

My lo pooped in a swim diaper the other day (fortunately it was just in his little wading pool outside). I washed it with his cloth diapers but it was still stained when it came out. I used woolite oxy stain & odor remover afterwards and scrubbed it with an old tooth brush. The second time I ran it through the wash, the stain was gone.

I've only got Oxiclean "stain remover" on hand ATM. Would that work with a good, long soak, do you think? If so, what ratio, and how long of a soak? Do you think sunning it for so long (prob 8 hrs) in 95 deg heat set it too much to salvage? I've also got plain white vinegar. Should I try a soak in that, too/instead?

I really appreciate your help so far!

Oh! Oh! Oh! Just remembered I have some Bac-Out! Probably 8 oz. Let me know what soak or treatment method would be most likely to work between those three things. TIA!!!

Re: Washing a poopy swim diaper

I use a soak in Borax with a small amount of detergent. I have Imse Vimse Wash Away...and the Borax soak I've used on everything for years & years with generally great success. I've not ruined anything yet - but it functions much the same way that OxyClean does.

Try to get the water warm but not hot. According to the research I've done on poop removal, any stain comes off easiest when it is at the same temp it was when it stained...so near body temp for biological stains is typically the best temp to remove the staining.
