Stinky Diapers?

So I recently bought a lit of 21 Wahmies and 10 Baby Land cloth diapers. The lady I bought them off of used microfiber towels as inserts. The diapers work great but sometimes hold odors. Some people say soak, don't soak, white vinegar, washing soda... I don't want to ruin them. What do I do? And what is the opinion on bleach?

the only thing that helped for us was bleach. you don't have to use a lot, just a splash in the washer. once it's almost full, add the dipes (or use the bleach dispenser if your washer has that). i always use the bleach in the main wash, and do an extra rinse with nothing to make sure all the bleach and detergent is rinse away thoroughly. also, natural fibers, ime, don't seem to have the odor problem, so you might switch the inserts to a natural fiber item. you could use anything, really, as long as it fits...prefolds, flats, receiving blanket...t-shirt...whatever....

yes bleach them. I put about 1/4 C into my bleach dispenser once every couple of weeks or so, and do an extra rinse to make sure all the bleach is rinsed out. If you're leery of bleaching the pockets you can do a bleach soak on just the inserts.

Re: Stinky Diapers?

I have tried bleaching some of my inserts once and it did seem to help some. Consensus on how often to be washing and bleaching inserts and pockets?

Re: Stinky Diapers?

I've had problems w/ PUL holding on to stink & bleach has been the only thing that worked for me. For inserts, bleach, soaking, vinegar, Borax all seem to work pretty well.
