It doesn't hurt anymore?

We have made it to three months...yeah!!...which I didn't with my son, but all of a sudden now I don't have that "full" feeling anymore, and I don't feel the burn of my milk coming in. Do these things just go away eventually, or am I not making as much milk? My husband says my boobs still look "huge" in the morning...but they don't feel huge or hard anymore! Is this normal?

I would say it's normal. Sometimes I hurt in the mornings, but I usually don't anymore. When I hurt, it's usually when DS sleeps late or he spends the night at MIL/FIL, and I sleep late. You still should be able to tell the difference in your breast before and after a feeding I would think. (I'm no expert though.) Especially the first morning feeding. It should feel full to the touch, and then feel deflated after.

Your milk supply begins regulating around 3-4 mo, so you have lots of milk without being engorged. I am going through that too! I used to get so full I'd hurt!

Re: It doesn't hurt anymore?

I felt like my boobs got smaller as we went along, but always kept producing just the right amount of milk. I would get sort of a tingly feeling with the let-down, but it should not be painful...otherwise who would keep nursing 2 years like WHO recommends?

Re: It doesn't hurt anymore?

totally normal. I don't get the burning feeling anymore either. Just a tingling when let-down, the only time I feel uncomfortable now is when DS skips a nursing session, which sadly is happening more often. I guess since he will be 1 next week (cry) he is starting to cut himself back. I'm hoping to at least keep the morning and night sessions for a while yet, any advice mommas?

Re: It doesn't hurt anymore?

As long as you are EBF, your body naturally regulates the amount of milk your LO need around 3 months... so it sounds like everything is going perfectly!

My LO is 4 months now and I am finally no longer leaking and never get engorged and rarely feel let down... nature is just doing it's thang!

Keep up the great work momma!
