'New' and flustered

Hi ladies,

Not new to DS but new to the April moms...I'm due a week from today. I had a membrane sweep on Wednesday because I asked for it. I started having regular contractions Wednesday night in my back that gradually got closer together and by yesterday morning at around 11am, they were less than 4 min apart.

We went to get checked out and found that I had in fact made progress since my appt on Wednesday. I was feeling pretty happy about that. They sent us to walk for a few hours before checking again. Well...the check left me in the same spot so i was sent home.

It's now Friday morning, contractions still coming but they've slowed. I DID lose a ton of mucous last night and the contractions I am having are much stronger than before....

Sorry your dealing with this. It sounds a lot like what my body is doing. I am actually not due until May but have had some kidney trouble and they say that a lot of times that causes early labor (my other 2 births I had no contractions until I was 41 weeks). I had a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions Thursday, saturday and sunday. Then on tuesday I started out with the light cramping kind of contractions, that gradually got stronger and closer together all day. I was up timing contractions, walking, getting in and out of the tub because they were getting pretty strong. Then suddenly at 4am they stopped! I am hoping for a home birth and since they stopped I didn't get checked to see how much progress I made. But the last few days I've just had random teasing contractions.

Hopefully things get moving for you soon. I know how frustrating it can be but once your little one is here you will be feeling much better! (I keep telling myself the same thing lol) Wishing you a safe and wonderful birth and a very healthy baby!!

I never posted an update but figured it's better late than never! After FIVE days of contractions, I ended up calling my Dr and asking her to see me (April 16)...She promised to help me along if nothing had changed...

When she examined me, I was already 8cm and fully effaced! She freaked out a bit and told me to head to the hospital right away and she`d meet us there. I was already the talk of the hospital by the time we got there given that I was still walking/talking etc yet so far progressed.

Dr came, broke my water and after 3 more intense contractions and 15 min of pushing, Emmett Paul arrived with the cord wrapped 3x...He was fine and didn't require any O2 but I certainly attribute the cord issues to the fact that I was left for so long contracting...

Anyhow....that's our story!!

That's wonderful! How are you both doing now?

SeaChellsRun- we're good...he's a tough cookie as far as sleeping and has quite the little temper but he's super cute!!
