dipes for GIANT baby

Hey Mamas!
My sweet 5 month old baby boy is a GIANT! He weighs 19 pounds and is long! I'd love some recommendations for a trim diaper that will last him through potty training. I'm already a little worried his bg 4.0's won't make it!
Thanks so much!

I feel ya. My little one was always quite large and wide. He is 2 and wears a 4t-5t. He's just broad and tall, a big square. Anyway the BGEs did not fit him well, well ever. Flips worked well and he could still wear them now, and he wears 4-6 boys undies. The 6,s are loose, 4s are tight. HTH!

My son is like this, too...99%ile. He outgrew BG 4.0s at around 5 months. I use Kawaii Baby HD2 pockets on him (no other Kawaii Baby diapers will fit him, not even the prefolds which are larger than standard) for daycare diapers. I also would recommend Nana's Bottoms in size ML or Large (ML is medium with a high rise)...she does awesome custom AIOs.

At nights and around the house, we love Large Sandy's in Bamboo with Disana soakers or WoollyBottoms soakers and longies...if your son turns into a heavy wetter, you might need that. I stay clear of diapers that say they are "one-size" because they are usually not....

Re: dipes for GIANT baby

It's just crazy! My older 2 were low birth weight babies and stayed right about average. Not this chunky monkey! I may look into the flips. Do they fit differently than the 4.0? We have 2 Thirsties Duos and although I like them, they seem a bit bulky. Maybe it's because he isn't filling it out yet. And the wing droop is driving me crazy! Any thoughts on the Thirsties Duo AIO?

Re: dipes for GIANT baby

I have heard some people like them but I have also heard a fair bit of complaints about entire stashes starting to leak after about 6 months and that they are not into honoring warranties.

About Flips, I personally know 2 people who were able to use the warranty that BG has for a year on their diapers. My friends had problems with their diapers leaking and were able to have them replaced on warranty through a local cloth diapering shop.

Knickernappies seem pretty large, but they are side snapping. Capri size 2 covers seems pretty big too

My guy was 22lbs at 5 months. Long rise and huge thighs and tummy. I found that blueberrys and nanas bottoms fit him well. Looking at Alva double gussets now I think they would have worked well back then. They have a nice rise and sufficient room for thighs and tummy.

I have a pink flip I'll stick in the mail if you want. It was my daughters and second so no promises on the PUL/elastic but its sitting in a box.
We used thirsties covers too. I never tried another aio w him. Eventually did FB Larges, and disposables. Fitting him was a challenge that grew old fast.
