5 week old biter

My 5 week old always bites when he first latches on. I have tried everything. I wait for his mouth to be open wide before giving him the nipple, but once he's on, he tightens those little lips and bites until I let down. I try to get my finger in there to uncurl the lips, but I am not fast enough. It is really just the first few seconds he does this, but it is enough that my nipples are still very sore. He's done this from day 1. Any tricks out there I may not have tried?

DD did the same thing and I was so sore because of it. I ended up having to use my thumb on her chin to help open her mouth wide every she latched on for about a week. Then she started doing it on her own and I finally got to really enjoy nursing.

I've tried that and he still does it, grrr. He will usually relax his bottom lip if I put my finger there, but still tightens his top one. Then sometimes he starts squealing and pulling on my nipple (gas, I think) and I have to dislatch him to burp him, then try again.
