Cloth pads?

I want to use cloth pads for postpartum and hopefully after when I would need them again for cycles. Does anyone have any affordable brands that they like that work well? Or do you think it is just better to make your own?

I ended up just making my own. I've used them for 2 pregnancies and just washed them and got them ready for this one.

Mine have 2 parts: a larger "shell" made with PUL, and then a regular, absorbent liner that fits inside the shell. I have a ton of the liners and wash those after each use, and 6 of the shells that I wash daily.

Glad rags! I've used the same ones for my cycles for years and they always come out of the wash looking great. I plan to soak a few in comfrey and urva ursi then freeze them for use postpartum (on the advice of my midwife). I'm not sure how they compare in price to the other brands out there but I can say the investment has been worth it many times over in terms of ease of use and longevity.

I also love gladrags! I didn't use them post partum though. The hospital gave me gigantic pads and I was happy to use the big ones they provided. I only have regular sized glad rag pads and I needed something more heavy duty in the first weeks.

Moonbow pads (just fussy/fussybutt) because you can get all natural fibers. I get OCV with wool backing. So far I've had a few liners a year or two that have lasted wonderfully, and just got a couple more plus some regular pads for postpartum. I've only had a couple light cycles between babies and used the liners for pads no problem. But they also make a wide variety of sizes, including a postpartum size, and she has thrown in a bonus each order!

Do you have pics of these, they sound perfect. I might want to attempt my own.

Re: Cloth pads?

I have used cloth pads exclusively since 2007. I LOVE them and have tried many brands and styles during this time. Hands down, my favorite are from Mother Moon Pads.

That said, she has a seconds/imperfect stocking today at 3 PM EST! The will be 35% off and will likely go fast. I JUST read the e-mail a few minutes ago. This would be a good time to grab a few to try. I have honestly only ever purchased seconds from her, and could never find any issue wrong with them. Her products are super great quality!

On another note, you can find MANY free patterns to make your own as well. You can easily used basic fabrics from your local fabric store too. I have planned to make my own, but never had the time to get to it.
