question for you guys:

how do you get good pics of your work? i'm not a photographer by any means but my pics always suck! i'd really like good pics to send to the mama's that i knit for....any help!?

I totally agree on there being a separate swap for premium HC yarns, that way people will at least be sure of getting something of equal value.
That's pretty much the only way I would join I think.

Maybe have a list of acceptable dyers, and if someone wants to send something else not on the list or they don't know what it is they have to get it approved first...

The best way is to use natural lighting outside just after sunrise or just before sunset or on a cloudy day. Since it's so freakin cold here in the winter, I have a harder time getting good pics. Also a tripod has been a lifesaver for me.

those are great thoughts. i have the lighting bit down, i think. but what about getting good shots up close? or different ways to lay things out....kwim?
