Re: # of Flats/prefolds for NB

I have 2 doz prefolds for this little guy and it's not enough...he just poops all the time! My other two weren't like this. So...2 doz flats on the way to make everything more workable.

Re: # of Flats/prefolds for NB

I always hear the rule of thumb is 36 diaper changes for washing every two days. I ended up getting 4 dozen dipes total: 3 dozen are prefold/fitted with 8 covers and 1 dozen AIO.

I have 5 PUL covers and am working on a bunch of newborn wool soakers. I think you could get away with 6 covers if you are fastening the prefolds underneath. Worse come to worse you can hand wash one if needed.

I have 45 diapers for my newborn due in November (mostly prefolds, some fitteds/AIOs). But I also have a toddler and I know things can get crazy and I need a buffer if I miss a day of laundry. Plus I like to wash every second day but fold and put away the clean laundry on the third day so I like having the extras. If I washed every 2 days and put away right away I could do 24! Just make sure to start the wash when you are down to the last 6 prefolds!
