Oh, I hope your hospital is supportive. One thing I realized with my vbacs is, they can't MAKE you do anything. If the nurse forgot to take the monitor off after 20 min on, I just unplugged it and started moving around again. Once labor was intense, I just ignored those stupid requests of moving to a better position for the monitor.

I agree with the suggestion of getting a doula. I wish I had and my hubby was actually pretty good during labor. But let's face it, they haven't done it, so they really don't get it. We also took Bradley Method classes, which focusses a lot on teaching the husband how to be a good support and coach during labor. It also teaches you how to be proactive and aware during your pregnancy and labor and prepares you to go med-free.
