My doctor told me that because I'm right handed my pecs are more developed on that side and that's affecting how my tissue produced. (They never seemed connected to me)

Unnoticed argue difference this go around but I think that's my fault because of my sciatica issues I'm more comfortable leaning to the right and I use the armor the couch to nurse.

Right handed. With baby 1 right side produced more. With baby 2 left side produces more. I tend to start with the lesser side but don't worry you mug as long as baby eats well.

I'm just like that. Overall still make plenty though, so I don't worry about it.

My right boob puts my left to shame. I have an oversupply regardless, so it's no big deal, but righty produces way more.

Re: Produce much less milk on one side

I thought I was alone in this, but after talking to people found out its pretty much the case in almost everyone. My right is the dud. I too tried all you did to get it to even out, but no go. Myright just apparently can never, ever produce more than 2 oz. I work on a boat sometimes, so last week I didn't have a chance to pump for 8 hours after my DD feed in morning. I got 9oz on the left and a stinking 2 oz on the right, even after all that time. Nature is funny....

Re: Produce much less milk on one side

I'm right handed but my left boob is the big producer. There was a very obvious, visible size difference with my first baby. For babies #2 and #3 I was careful to favor the weak side (always starting baby on the right) in the critical first month. That helped to make the size difference less severe (you can't tell when I'm dressed) but the left still produces about 2x what the right does.

I nursed 4 babies and was lopsided every time. It didn't make a difference with any of them...they all grew happy and healthy!

yes - my power boob could pump 12 ounces sometimes if I had a skipped a session but i never got more than 5 oz from my dud. I've read that most women are like that.

Re: Produce much less milk on one side

I think most singleton moms produce more on one side than the other. Moms of multiples can produce more obviously because they are feeding more babies!

Re: Produce much less milk on one side

Very normal. When my first was born she was in the NICU. I was only pumping the first 6 days and I noticed one side was giving me more. I was so worried. However when I spoke to the lactation consultant in the NICU she assured me that it was completely normal, and most women do.
