Thanks Mamas!! I'm embarassed to admit how much time I spend lying in bed at night thinking about sewing On this particular night I was thinking about a prefitted tut I'd read where she suggested using the cut outs as lay in soakers, and this was what came out of that musing. I also think up a lot of fabric prints/color schemes I'd love to see. Maybe I was a fabric designer in a different life, lol!

also you can embelish them too since that doesnt require a serger!! and don't worry I laid in bed all night thinking about my prefolds too hahaha

I have been trying to figure out how to do this for weeks! I knew it HAD to be possible, but I couldn't make it work. Thanks for taking the plunge and actually figuring it out! Looks great!

Funny you should mention that, I've been thinking about how exactly I'd embellish w/o effecting the casing for the elastic. I think I'm going to experiment with a slightly hourglass shape that will also show off a little more print on the front and back and narrow down just a bit through the legs. I did an embellished pf w/ fleece (which turned out cool in that it's kinda like a half cover built in) but that was when I was still attempting the overlock.

and the best part? Not only do I obsess about sewing stuff, but I can't bear tossing usable scraps. I have boxes My DH would go crazy if he knew the truth! Since this is my first baby in prefolds, I hadn't realized that the leftover material between Mei Tai panel cuts is the perfect size for embellishing prefolds!! I have so many cool patterns to try! I get all silly just thinking about it, lol!

how about putting the embelishment on first? would that work?? oooh or you could just to a small design embelishment like an animal of sorts with a zig zag stitch??
