How long do you lactate after weaning?

Just curious - dd self-weaned at 13 months. She is now 18 months. Occasionally when I'm holding her, I get that tingly let-down feeling, but always just passed it off as imagination. Well the other day it happened, and I got curious, so I went into the bathroom and gave my boobie a good squeeze - holy moly, milk squirted right out!!

So just askin' - how long does YOUR milk last after weaning, because apparently I'm at 5 months and counting...

I think it just depends on your body. I honestly don't remember how long it took me to totally dry up. But squeezing like that encourages production, so don't keep doing that!

I haven't weaned, but in theory you could lactate until your youngest is 6-8years old. Sage tea and peppermint will help you dry up.

I nursed DD until she was 15 mths and my milk supply was dry within one month TOPS. I am not sure if that was bc I was pg at the time though.

Re: How long do you lactate after weaning?

I felt tingly let-downs for about a year after my daughter weaned, but I never felt like there was any milk there to express.
