Re: Mirena... spotting

My first one, I bled/spotted 6 months straight. My other ones, it quit soon after. I didn't have periods with the Mirena, but would spot (brown old blood) occasionally. I ended up not liking it anymore and had my last one removed due to side effects.

Re: Mirena... spotting

I thought I should add: if you end up cramping more than normal, or bleed heavier, or it's painful, I'd have it checked, just to make sure it's where it's supposed to be. Not to scare you but I personally know one friend that experienced it pushing through the uterus, another who's iud flipped upside down and another friend who had gotten pregnant. It's all very low in chances of ever happening though.

I had the same experience with mine. 6 months of off and on bleeding.

Re: Mirena... spotting

I had spotting the first month or so with Mirena and then would spot every few months. I never got a normal period. I ended up with painful cysts and got my Mirena out after a year. Some people have no issues with it, but I will never get an IUD again.

Re: Mirena... spotting

I bled heavily for 3-4 weeks after I got my mirena put in. My OB said it was completely normal for that to happen and to have irregular bleeding for the first year as your menstrual cycle shuts down. It is annoying but completely normal and it should subside soon!

Re: Mirena... spotting

I had light bleeding for 12 weeks after getting it in. I do have periods now but they are lighter than pre-IUD and they are not regular like on the pill. I would wait it out to see how your body will respond over time before having it removed.

I spotted on/off for about 1 week and then didn't have a period or spotting for 9 months. I was breastfeeding though.
