Another wipe question?

Well, since i am a newbie cloth diapering mommy, i have lots of questions for all you experienced cding mommies out there... what materials work best for cloth wipes? I bought some second-hand cotton receiving blankets at a garage sale for cheap and thought about cutting them up, doubling them, and sewing them together for wipes. Will this work well? What materials seem to work best for you? I figured I can save money by not buying them if I can make them for cheap. Also, what is your system for wetting your wipes? I live in a house with three floors---change my son on two of them and bathroom is far from changing area. Does a squirt bottle work well? Do you just squirt and wipe? What else should I know about cloth wipes? Please help.... thanks.
