Colorado springs!

Hey everyone!

We will be relocation to the Colorado springs area in April of next year. I have a daughter who will be 10, and is dyslexic. Can anyone recommend a decent area/zip code/school district? She receives special education for her learning disability so it's important for us to narrow down.

Thanks!

Re: Colorado springs!

From what I've been told district 20 is by far the best. 49 comes second. I very much dislike our assigned 49 elementary school. We do have a charter school IN our neighborhood and so far for my "normal" kids are doing great there. They however would not take my special needs son. For him we chose a special district sponcered online school program (k12) falcon virtual. Pm me if you may want more info.

One other thing to keep in mind to is this is a choice school area. As long as you are willing to provide transportation and there is space at the school they allow you to choice in and go where you would like and not your assigned school.

Awesome!! Thank you!

We are trying to narrow. We have never been there, but the military is sending us. Stressful!

Re: Colorado springs!

Where will you be stationed? I live and teach special education math in the 80817 area, Fountain. I had offers to work in D20 and D8 and I chose D8. We receive a good deal of funding due to the large population of military students in our district. With Carson being a compassion post, there's also a big emphasis/attention on special education and meeting the needs of students with disabilities.
