Toddler with Ammonia Ick- Washing help!??

We recently started CD'ing my 2yo. I'll also be CD'ing baby #2 after she is born so we got One Size Pockets (FB, Kawaii, BG).

My son has STRONG urine. Doesn't matter how hydrated he is the stuff stinks. I change him every 2 hours but i can still smell it when the diaper comes off. This happened terribly with my pre-loved diapers and mildly with the ones i bought brand new. I'm going to replace the inserts in the used dipes.

Can you help me with a washing routine to help get this ammonia out??

This is what I'm working with:
Old toploader- hot/cold, warm/cold, cold/cold.
Soft Water
Regular rockin' green (i'll buy soft rock next go around)

Use bleach and a commercial detergent like Tide. Ammonia means diapers aren't clean.

I have a bad reaction to bleach, so I used a vinegar soak and Tide on my diapers. My 6yo dd's urine was really strong. The dipes smelled like ammonia and actually burned her skin until I started the vinegar soaks. BTW, this was from about 3 years to 4.5 years. Then she got too big for the xl cloth diapers and I went back to pull ups.

rinse diapers after every change. That will cut down the ammonia smell and make cleaning easier in the wash. In the diaper pail I put a peice of cloth under the lid with tea tree oil and lavender oil so that it smells nice.
COLD prewash
Try adding more soap to see if that will help
and maybe do some extra rinses.

You can also boil the inserts (not the pockets). I've heard some prefer this over bleach.
