My Mood:
anybody concerned about celiacs?

We have celiacs on both sides so our peditirician said to avoid gluten. She told us to give him lots of rice ceral for the iron. Well with the new arsenic thing I don't want him eating rice. That leaves him fruits and veggies and I'm actually finding a lot of what I bought has oats etc so I can't give those to him. I'm trying to decid how worrisome it would be to give him gluten at this age, especially when we don't know if he actually has it or not. I don't know what else to feed him. I guess I'm going to have to start making my own so he can have meats and such but I really didn't want to add making baby food to my plate as I already am overwhelmed a lot of the time. Anyway, just looking for any suggestions for what to feed my 7 month old or how you handled things if your kiddo was at risk for celiacs.

Re: anybody concerned about celiacs?

Hi! We were avoiding gluten b/c of Celiac's on DH's side. DS was eating a ton of rice based foods. After that study came out I freaked out. They said to limit rice to once a week, when DS was eating it multiple times a day. He is 10 months old so I just decided to try gluten. We bought him some Cheerios and he's done just fine with them!
If you aren't ready to do wheat, what about corn based pastas and breads? Cornbread and tortillas could be good for your LO.
