Question about washing with Charlie's Soap

I have the Charlie's Soap and I am confused as to how much to use when I wash my diapers. The soap says to use one scoop which is 1 Tablespoon per load of laundry.

Some of my diapers say to wash with half the manufactors recommended amount of detergent...so there's my confusion...how much do I use to wash a normal load of diapers?

I have a top loading machine, any advice would be GREAT :]

I haven't used Charlies but I know that Rockin Green says to use 2T for a load in a top loader.
I would start with the 1T and decrease or increase based on how clean your diapers are getting.

Re: Question about washing with Charlie's Soap

I use the 1 Tbsp scoop they provide with every diaper load and do an extra wash cycle with no soap after.
I haven't played around with less soap because I feel 1 Tbsp is not a lot and it is working for us.

I do the 1T because it is a load of very dirty laundry, makes no sense to reduce it to me. And it's a big load, with 2 in diapers, washing on the 3rd day. I do a quick pre-wash with no detergent but with Bac-Out, then the wash with Charlie's, then an extra rise. No build-up, no stinkies.

I think everyone covered it and I agree, use the full scoop (1 tablespoon).

Re: Question about washing with Charlie's Soap

I should have said, we have normal water. If I had hard water I would add more and use the new Charlie's phosphate additive for hard water - otherwise I wouldn't use Charlie's with hard water.

Re: Question about washing with Charlie's Soap

I've got hard water and a FL. I use 1 heaping scoop (it's about 1 1/2 scoops) and then add 1 scoop RLR, 1 scoop Oxi and 2/3c bleach. I preempt that with a full cycle prewash and fallow it with a full cycle rinse with 1 scoop RLR and 1/3c vinegar in the bleach and fabric softener dispensers. All 3 full cycles are the long washes that include prewash and 2nd rinse. I use warm/warm but my water heater is turned up so this is very warm almost hot. We're stink and rash free finally after dealing with hard water issues for a couple years.

Re: Question about washing with Charlie's Soap

I think we have soft water here..or maybe normal..not sure. It's not hard, I'm sure of that. Would you use less with soft water vs normal water? I don't have the actual baby yet so all I've been doing is prepping diapers for now. I don't have any dirty ones to try it out with yet. I'll just start out with 1 scoop and go from there :]
