Talking Anyone else have a short torso and...

feel like they start showing right away because of it??? I started showing very early with my DD and by 25 weeks most people (strangers) were coming up to me and saying "any day now, right". All of my friends with long torsos took forever to start showing....now with #2 (I can't be more than 6-8 weeks...I'll find out on the 12th how far along I am) by evening I definitely have a little baby bump already (I know it happens sooner with #2, but still). I have this theory that people with short torsos (like myself) show earlier and get bigger sooner than people with long torsos....its like there is no where else for the baby to go but out...I would love to know what the rest of you think!!!!

I'm pretty short waisted and I agree I'm 11 weeks and I'm showing. It wasn't till this week though. I do carry a little extra above the belly button but I think it won't be long and people will be wondering if i'm pg or just getting chubby. Strategically I think I could hide this for at least a few more weeks. But then again this is #2

I tend to show early too.. and the nurse made the comment the other day that the baby had no place to go.. And towards the end of my pg i'll look like i'm having twins even tho there's only one in there.. (happened with DD, and it's already happening now and i'm due at the end of may)

I have a short torso as well and show quite early. Like the PP, I started showing around my 10th or 11th week. By the middle of my pregnancies, I looked almost full term. By my due dates, I looked like I was having multiples. yikes.

Re: Anyone else have a short torso and...

I don't nec. have a short torso, but I'm short overall and my build is slender, so h*ll yeah, I show early. At 8 weeks my normal pants were too tight. Now I'm 6 months and am starting to look BIG (and feel), even though I'm doing better with weight and swelling up than with dd - I'm still in size 6 mat clothes, but the belly is just so big, that I have to wear them all as under-belly pants/skirts. I just reached the "belly getting in the way" stage - I bumped three students with the belly today - that's just not cool. Seems on me, I grow out, then widen, then grow out again. I assume I'm about to widen here. Ugh. Last time w/ dd she was so high in me that she started pushing up really hard around 5 months, to where I felt sharp pain all the time, unless I was laying down. Luckily, that hasn't happened yet. Yet another benefit of being short

I totally agree. I have a long torso, and I don't have to wear maternity clothes until around 6 months and people always think I'm due a couple of months later than I am. So yeah, the baby grows up for a long time until it runs out of room and only THEN does it start growing OUT.

Re: Anyone else have a short torso and...

good, I'm glad that its not all totally in my head about the torso thing. I'm even pretty tall (5'8)....but mostly legs (my DH is 6'1 and we have the same length of legs--mine might even be longer)...so you should see me in most maternity pants. I look like I'm wearing floods...which makes me have to go a size up to get the length right...and then my pants are always falling down. I love being pregnant, but I don't like trying to dress my pregnant body...

I'm only 5' and show pretty early, too. It seems to be true for me.
