Re: when to start pumping??
Thanks for all the feedback!!
Does this sound like a good plan?? 1. Start pumping at 2 weeks old...ideally start with pumping one side while baby eats on the other side. 2. Introduce a bottle at 3-4 weeks old starting with one bottle a day to give him time to adjust. 3. By six weeks old, hope that he is willing to take a bottle through the night while I am at work. Will working at night affect when I pump?? I work 3 12 hour night shifts a week. My employer has an excellent pumping policy, so I will be able to pump at work if I need to.

Re: when to start pumping??
Looks good to me, mama! Working at night shouldn't affect your supply as long as you are diligent about not skipping a pumping session. That's so great that your employer is supportive of you pumping.
Let us know how it goes!

Re: when to start pumping??
You ladies have been SO helpful!! I really appreciate it. I will surely have more questions after the baby gets here. Unfortunately, I have no family support on pumping and going back to work, so I love that ya'll are willing to help!!!

Re: when to start pumping??
I think pumping overnight will yield you great results once you return to work! As another mama said... supply is highest in the overnight/early morning hours, so if you can take advantage of that 3a-5a time to pump, you should produce a lot then.

I started pumping at 2 weeks, although not very consistently. Have yet to introduce a bottle at 5w. I'm thinking of having DH give a bottle a day starting around 7w or so. I'm slated to head back to work after 9 or 10 weeks.
