Re: 10 months old ... Is it possible?

We just bought a potty for our 1 yr old and I set her on it first thing in the morning and after naps. I always clap and show her the pee. No pressure for her though

Wow that's incredible. Didn't even think of trying to start training so early.

all my EC books claim that you can start as late as about 9 months. I think it sounds like a great start!!

very nice mommy

I share the opinion of others as far as getting your baby a potty I'm curious though, it's been a few months since you started the thread...did you get the potty and what were the results if you did?

thnx

It's totally possible. I'm positive my son would have been trained by 1 year if he hadn't been hit with crazy constipation that scared him off of pottys for a while.

I think this is the perfect approach, and he already "shows interest". I honestly think the earlier the better, it seems like the longer people wait the harder it becomes.

Re: 10 months old ... Is it possible?

Can't hurt to try. But keep it all positive. He may just want to pull his pants down and sit a second, but he's learning that the potty is safe, and that's great (don't let any public restroom loud flushes scare him). He's not going to be potty trained the way our society views it where he takes himself, pulls down his clothes, goes, wipes and comes back out...
You might find this interesting. We read it and tried some of it. Success for us was that our boy learned sooner than most boys and he was never afraid of the potty and has always known what the potty was for:
