Wink Finished a Soaker!

I just finished my first wool soaker for DD. It's a Flirty Skirty from LTK and very cute IMO! Since she won't be here till February, I don't know how long my elastic should be for the casing. I'm expecting her to be at least 9 lbs at birth (based on family history and DS's size at birth). I made the newborn size. The instructions only say to put in the elastic and sew the hole

Well, I finished and blocked and it is done!! I really messed up the leg holes, but I managed to finish them the way they were and it's not bad, just a couple holes that you can't really notice. I'm going to make a soaker out of the leftover yarn next!

Well, if it was me, I wouldn't do it until after baby comes... Even with same weight babies, their shape can be so different that the same items will fit differently. Just my

I got to thinking about that myself, so I just went ahead and put in enough elastic to fit the waist and tacked it together then I blocked it. Soon as she's born I'll measure her and sew it for real. Bonus, I found that I could leave the little hole open, so that if the elastic is just too tight after a bit, I don't have to undo the whipstitching to loosen it later! Thanks for the advice.

I love that colorway and you did such a fabulous job! It's an adorable skirt. You'll have to remember to show us on your little model when she arrives.
