My lo pees on the potty when I'm not looking...?

I've just started EC'ing my 8 month old daughter. She is going pee on the potty a few times a day, but will only do it when I walk away, so I'm not able to say "psssss" so she associates the sound with the action.

If I sit and wait, she won't go. I turn away, and there she goes.

How important is it that I make the "pssss" sound? Any tips?

TIA!

Re: My lo pees on the potty when I'm not looking...?

I think this a phase, they get bored with the same pattern and often change their preference. We got to find what they like by trial and error method.

DS did the same thing 2 weeks back. I had to sit him on the potty and hide myself in the closet , he would pee only then . He wont pee as long as I was with him . His peeing pattern changes often. When we first started he would pee as soon as I sit him in the potty and make the psss sound. Later on he got bored with that I think , he used to pee standing next to bathtub. Then standing anywhere in the restroom or I have to read books to him while sitting in the potty. Currently he pees only in the living room potty chair while watching teletubbies. By the way I am also not able to do the pisss sound , but he makes it when he pees .
