Elimination Communication articles

I was browsing Helium today and noticed a few pro/con style debate articles that could use some more input from parents who do elimination communication. I thought Mommas here would be good at writing some up! Warning, ignore the parents who obviously know nothing about it and wrote thoughtless articles as a result ("they can't sit up" or "they can't talk" being reasons for why it can't be done).

The diaper-free movement: Should babies be potty trained from birth?

Diaper-free babies: Fact or fantasy?

Re: Elimination Communication articles

Omg, will someone more experienced than myself PLEASE write an article? Good lord, "if God had made babies to go in the toilet, he would have made them able to talk?" Yes, that's why God made diapers, right? Oh wait, HE DIDN'T! LOL

I too feel very sorry for all the babies on this site whose parents are "making" them using the toilet, and apparently somehow not allowing them to use their diaper if they want to. Yes, I use duct tape to keep it in, how about you? Good lord...!

Re: Elimination Communication articles

it is scary how many NO responses there are that say how detrimental this is for the baby. Why is it so hard to understand?
And ancient cultures don't use diapers because they can't afford them? The Emperor of China could not afford to make his children sit in their own waste? It has nothing to do with hygiene? I'd love to know when diapers first came into use?

reading through all the NOs, where moms say it is just not possible (because they can't sit!? or hold their heads up!) I was reminded of the time not too long ago, in the big picture, when mankind knew without a doubt that the world was flat. It's as though they look at their own 3 year old who is refusing to use the potty and think "there is no way a baby is smarter then my little Jonny"

Seriously! What I don't understand is why parents don't realize that potty training a 3-year-old is difficult because they (the parents) spent the last three years teaching their kids that it's okay to poo and pee in their pants and then they suddenly change the rules.
