Question I'm sure its been asked before

I'm sure its never to late to start but I was wondering...where do I start??? DD is almost 8 months old and already runs around the house in a pf and babylegs. So what would be the next move? Just taking her in and putting her on the potty when she gets ready to poop??? How EC work? Is that what it is, just PTing at such a young age? I'm really wanting to know the basics of what it is and how it works and how you know when to take them to the potty.....

Re: I'm sure its been asked before

check out some websites on how to start. my fave is EC is more like communicating with your baby rather than potty training, just like how you know when your DD is hungry or sleepy.

I'd just start slow, by offering potty right after waking up in the morning or from a nap. that one's a sure catch for me. soon enough, she'll get the message and hold the pee for you.

another easy one is when you are changing her diaper. and let her play naked as much as possible and observe and see if she gives you any cues before peeing.

good luck! my dd is just turning 8mo too.

I started by just jumping right in and hovering my baby over the toilet and making the cue sounds if/when he goes.

And I got a book. "Diaper Free" by Ingrid Bauer. I'm sure there are other books but that one just happened to come with a little potty I bought on ebay and it's pretty great so far explaining everything.
