What to make with 7 lbs of Ham

I got a 8 lb Ham that was precooked for a really good deal. We ate about a pound for dinner tonight and now I have 7 pounds left and the bone and I have very few ideas about other dishes to make (I typically do not buy ham). If anyone has any ideas and/or recipes I would really apperciate it if you shared them with me!

eta - does it freeze well?

Soups are great.... split pea, ham and bean, black bean, etc.

Ham and string beans with potatoes and a splash of vinegar in the crockpot is a good dish.

You can make mac and cheese with ham and maybe veggies added.

Some panini sandwiches with ham, or some grilled ham and cheese would be tasty.

Pasta salad can make use of cubed ham if you add some black olives, veggies, and salad dressing.

But my favorite is scrambled eggs with ham, cooked potatoes, red peppers, onions, mushrooms, and cheese. It smells so good cooking that I can hardly wait to eat it.

MMmm... Add Baked Potato and Ham soup to that list too. Maybe Scalloped Potatoes with Ham in a casserole form. Chicken Cordon Bleu when you get to smaller pieces.
We freeze ham after Easter and it works great in soup. Never tried to thaw for sandwiches but I would think it would work just fine!

ham and rice soup
add to scrambled eggs with some cheese and eat breakfast burrito style (my DH's favorite)
ham and noodles and peas (I buy the pastaroni white cheddar noodles). My kids snack on cubes of ham with crackers and cheese

and I freeze it to use later all the time.

Re: What to make with 7 lbs of Ham

I slice a ton of potatoes and sliced up ham to the crockpot. I pour a mixture of some cream of chicken soup, milk and flour over it and let it cook all day. Yumm.

My DH likes the same dish with peas in it

Re: What to make with 7 lbs of Ham

It freezes VERY well. I cube it into 1 lb and 1/2 lb portions then freeze for several different dishes.

I use mix it with peas and white pasta sauce over fettucine.

You can put it in scalloped potatoes

It's great in the 16 bean soups.

I have to look at my recipes, but those are a few suggestions off the top of my head.
