Another loss (MC mentioned)

Hi all,

I just found out Friday that I'm experiencing my 3rd loss in a row. This time, an ectopic pregnancy. I'm 35 and I had 2 healthy children 9 and 11 years ago, and now have had 3 losses in a row....what gives? I just got the methotrexate injection and I'm waiting to see if my levels drop or if I will need surgery. Anyone have any hope for me? I went to see a RE before my 4th conception, and they just instantly told me I should get IVF without much testing. It's so frustrating because I don't know where to begin. A hematologist to make sure I don't need a blood thinner? A rheumatologist to make sure it's not my autoimmune genes flaring up and attacking the fetus? Every specialist I go to says to go to a RE, but the RE just seemed to be an IVF pusher. My husband and I have conceived 3 times in 17 months and lost them all now. Sorry for the scrambled thoughts; I know there wasn't much rhyme or reason here.

I'm sorry for your loss.

As I read your post I wondered if there was a NaPro practitioner near you. A NaPro trained doctor will deal with infertility and miscarriage very differently because they follow Catholic teaching. They will offer several testing etc and approach different avenues and IVF is not an automatic go to.

The last doc for I knew had patients from all different backgrounds coming to see him because they wanted a more natural approach to infertility or when regular infertility specialists didn't work out.

It might be an option to explore.

Re: Another loss (MC mentioned)

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss I was in you shoes a little over a year ago. We had no trouble having 5 healthy children, but in trying for number 6 we had 3 miscarriages. It was one of the hardest times of my life! We were baffled as we had no trouble with the others. What was different this time?? i finally decided to have my midwife run a complete blood panel. In doing that we found that I was slightly insulin resistant and, because of this, my ovaries weren't dropping good eggs. My midwife put me on metformin and 1 month later we got pregnant with the little lady sitting in my lap right now
I'm no doctor so I can't say for sure that you have the same problem that i had, but it's worth looking into.
I'll be praying for you! I know how heartbreaking miscarriages can be. Stay positive! I hope my experience is an encourage to you!!

Thank you guys for the tips! I found a naturopath guy but he's not in network with my insurance. Maybe I'll just do it anyway. I also have PCOS so Metformin may be for me... Thanks also for the hope <3

I'm so sorry for your loss. Big hugs your way. An re will do all of the testing required to identify the etiology of the losses. A good re will also test your husband. A good re is a detective. Ivf should only be used if necessary. Unfortunately many re's autonatically go to ivf bc it is reliable and gets good results. Check out the book Making Babies by dr Sami David. Not everyone needs ivf. Some just need a good detective. Dr David does distance consults. You can contact his office for details.
