8 month old rejecting food

My DS is almost 8 months old. He has been EBF up to this point, but we've been trying to introduce solids through BLW since 6 months. He is just rejecting all solids! When I give him something, he'll play with it for a bit (not really suck on it), and then get bored and start fussing. I've even broken down and tried a bit of puree, and that is an absolute no-go. He will shut his lips tight, or if some food gets in he will blow a raspberry until he spits it out.

His weight gain is almost at a stand-still now at 19 lbs. Any advice?

Re: 8 month old rejecting food

I am having the same problem with my 7th month old. Her doctor wasn't concerned because food before one is just for fun they say. Most of their nutrition comes from bm or formula. I agree it is frustrating.

Re: 8 month old rejecting food

I wouldn't worry about it. My 8.5 month old is the same. So long as they are healthy and thriving on BM. I'd just make sure any foods he does get are very nutrient dense so he'll get some vitamins even if it's just a tiny bit. No empty carbs, basically is what I'm recommending. I'd just keep offering and not make it a stressful thing. I've noticed with my babe if I am getting anxious that he's not eating anything at meal time, he definitely refuses. He tends to take more bites from my husband whom has a more laid back approach and doesn't care how many bites he takes. Hope this helps
