Kindergarten homeschool..how many hours?

I am just wondering how much time (per day) should you spend with your kindergartener spent directly on "homeschooling time"... We started our first day today (as I want to get him on a good schedule) we did some reading words on a great computer program/game. My toddler joined in with us too... We did about half an hour and that was it. My kids seemed ULTRA tired today (compared to normal?) Are young ones more tired after having intense learning in a day? I just was wondering how much time is appropriate for a little one.

I think that varies by kid. Some kids you can't give enough and others really need to transition slowly.

My four year old soon to be five is one of those that needs lots of breaks and short activities. His brother I had to keep going and going because he asked for more to do.

We did about an hour, but not necessarily at once.

yes they both just seemed very tired (earlier today than normal) so I am wondering if it was a lot to process for them! Breaking it up in smaller chunks may be a better plan! Thanks!

Agreed! We do about an hour of school time but my kindergartener spends time reading or playing games so they're really learning a lot throughout the day when it's not officially school time. Just make sure they get plenty of play time

Follow their lead. I aim to do some math, some writing and some language daily. We have lots of hands on activities to make it interesting. I often let her pick her activities. We also have lots of science and geography stuff which she loves. If it's a bad day I just read educational books to them. We also play educational games. I'm also open to doing an activity at a random time if she wants to.

I agree with everyone else. One thing I also did was tried to make learning about life. So if I cook, they help. Even if its just mixing and I'm talking about something. Cutting up an apple and cutting it in half. Its all learning!!
