For some reason I've always been intimidated by homemade pretzels

Re: What's cooking Decmber 2017

I can bake pretty much any other kind of bread (that I've tried anyway) but for some reason I can follow the pretzel recipe exactly and still not have it turn out. It's frustrating! But they really aren't that hard if you don't try to do the baking soda part.

Anything with yeast or kneading involved I always shy away from. I don't really know why. I love cooking and baking everything else.

That's a
good idea - I'll stick a box or two out there.

I wish I knew! That's the thing - I don't know what it is, so I don't know if it's actually bad to eat or just tastes bad? Like, should I try just masking the flavor more or is it going to make us get cancer soon?

My MIL made them and brought way too many for the recipe we had on "Christmas" night. So I don't know exactly what they are lol but it's basically a dumpling but sliced like bread? I don't know lol. That's why I don't know what to make for them.

I just looked at the recipe they are Czech bread dumplings. I don't know if that means anything to anyone.

That's so weird. Let us know if clearing it all out fixes it.

I found this page and they look pretty yummy with gravy/saucy dishes but at the bottom it says you can also brown them in butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar for breakfast. I bet that would be tasty. This looks just like something they make at the historical village here and they slice and brown it in a skillet. I've always been curious about it.

Oooo yummy! My MIL makes a dish with them that has a sour cream type sauce with beef. Funny that when I googled the dumplings to try to find a way to use them up the dish that my MIL makes isn't anything like any of the recipes for it on the internet.
