Tissue lump from nursing?

I have nursing my son for the last 10 months but recently (maybe a month ago) noticed a small, tissue-y type lump in my breast. It doesn't hurt or anything, and feels to be the size of a pea. I do not think I had this before. Should I be worried? Could it be milk-duct related?

Possibly a clog milk duct. Try taking Lecithin, a natural soy emulsifier.
Good luck!

I would absolutely get it checked out. Don't mess around with lumps. Any lumps I've had as clogged ducts are always sore and feel like obvious clogs and are worked out fairly quickly. If you've tried everything you would normally do to get rid if a clog and it's still there, get it looked at! Good luck.

Re: Tissue lump from nursing?

It is possible that this is breastfeeding related. It is also possible that it is something more serious. I would monitor it over the next month. If it doesn't change, definitely get it checked. If it goes away, it is just an area that is filling and draining with milk.

Re: Tissue lump from nursing?

I would have DS nurse as much as possible on that side -- if it is a clogged duct, that should help as well as warm compresses. If you have a pump, you may want to pump as well after nursing DS. My pediatrician recommended pumping after feeding to help get my supply up and help supplement DS when his weight was a bit low -- she also said that she wanted to make sure all my milk was out because she herself had a breast cancer scare after finding a lump and it turned out to be calcified milk in one of her ducts from when she breastfed.
If it doesn't go away or change over the next month like PP said, I would definitely have it checked out. Lumps are nothing to mess around with.

I have a similar sounding lump. Dr sent me for an ultrasound and they said it was not cancer but they have no idea what it is and will monitor every year.
