Is this normal?

I use amway veg-based detergent with good results the past four months or so. Lately the dipes were not smelling as good out of the dryer--ammonia and a general unclean smell. Vinegar didn't take care of unclean smell so today I ran the rinse, then two times through the long hot cycle with detergent for both and a triple rinse for all the detergent (till water ran clean through my FL's window). I'm going to do that with the other two-thirds of my stash the next time I do dipes. Does this just happen sometimes, or is it a problem?

Re: Is this normal?

You need to strip. Squirt of Dawn and 1/4 of a cup of bleach in HOT water followed by additional hot washes with nothing until the water runs clear again.

Using your usual detergent won't do anything. You need a different soap to get rid of the residue.

I have heard that putting Dawn in a FL will void the warranty. I will never own a FL again. It seems like people often have trouble with diapers not getting clean enough in them for one reason or another. Personally it wouldn't matter to me if it voided the warranty because I would see it as necessary to get rid of the build-up and bacteria in my diapers but just thought I would throw it out there in case it would bother you.

For me, yes. Sometimes you just need to wash them again.

If you strip with dawn- I would deff do it in the tub with the stomp washing method, let them soak and then stom some more. It takes all day, then toss them in the machine to make sure you rinsed them VERY well.Or you could do sportwash, wayyyy easier and it's he safe. Here is a like here!

Thanks! I will strip next. Everything smelled great after the latest lead though.
