Re: Is a toilet attached diaper sprayer worth the $$?

I just want to chime in and say that I don't have one and I really don't feel the need to get one. I use a hard rubber spatula and it is not gross at all. I wipe the poo on a piece of tp and flush, no problem, no mess. I just don't see the price being worth it if i can do it for only $1. Danni

I have a deep and profound love for my diaper spray.

Most of my kids have not been this way, but a couple of them never or very rarely had easy to clean poops, lol. It was super sticky, peanut butterry mushy mixed with bits of grape skins, corn, etc, and lucky me those two kids were my most frequent poopers all the way to potty training. I think it's quite likely I would have given up on cloth with them had I not had a diaper sprayer. Their poops were not ploppable, scrapable, wipable, dunkable or swishable. I tried, believe me I tried, but it was the hugest mess. A diaper sprayer saved my sanity and allowed me to continue loving cloth diapering. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky mamas who never encounters those! Even though my 2yo doesn't have those super frequent and super messy dipes, I still LOVE having a sprayer to keep the diapers stain free and the pail smelling fresh. The sprayer also comes in handy for other things too, so it's not like it's a waste even once the diapering days are over.

I think you can buy the supplies to make your own. I think if you ask or do a search for homemade diaper sprayer you should be able to find directions for it. Honestly, I'd rather fork over a few more bucks and get one ready made though. It's well worth the $27 to me!

Sorry if this is a dumb follow-up... how is a diaper sprayer better/different from a shower head that has a hose? Maybe it's something I'd have to use to be able to tell a difference? Thanks

I would think that the shower head might be too big, and soak the diaper w/ more water than you need to actually spray off the poo (don't know for sure, though). Then you'd have to wring out icky diapers you might as well just dunk and swirl.

I LOVE my diaper sprayer!! I couldn't CD w/o it.

I love, love, love our diaper sprayer. DD just started solids last month and she's got the stickiest, stinkiest poo. I wouldn't be able to handle scraping it.
