I didn't do it this pregnancy. And I am not going to. With DD I failed the one hour and they made me do the 3 hour. Then with YDS since I failed the one hour with DD they made me do the 3 hour at 16 weeks and then again at 24 weeks and then again at 32 weeks. This time I decided that I didn't need to do it. I am eating fine and dont feel like I have a problem. My doc wants me to but only because I am overweight.

Re: Anyone NOT do a glucose test?

I've never done one, refused every time and would change doctors if I had to. I hate being manipulated by the medical system.

Wow, $10 I super cheap!!!!! We must have a kit higher markups here. We can't even get strips for our Medicare patients for less than that. If that the case go for it, however, I trust my docs 100% they havn't steered me wrong yet

Re: Anyone NOT do a glucose test?

I haven't done it with any of my homebirths. My midwife says that there would be other signs pointing to gestational diabetes--obviously, if she had a concern, she'd have me take it. At this point, she sees no reason to.

So I bought a meter and my numbers are excellent! I'm averaging 84-86 fasting and before meals and 110-120 1-2 hours after eating. If I check right at 1 hr it is around 120 and if I forget and wait till 2 hrs it's down around 110. All those numbers are right smack dab in the middle of the excellent range. I know feel 100% confident in not takeoff the 2 hour test!!

Ive had four Lil ones and on my fourth pregnancy I didn't do one. Ive never had a issue, I felt confident I wouldn't with this one, too. And my midwife left it up to me because of how healthy I am and that I have no issues while prego. But if she felt it was needed she would have encouraged it.

I did do it. I did the 1 hour test and 3 hours one. I didn't fail the 1 hour test but the doctor said it wasn't good enough because my blood sugar was at 132. He said if its over 130 I should do the 3 hours screen test. I didn't want to do it but since I have a high risk pregnancy( I have anti E Protein in my blood system), so I better do it he said. I have to see 2 OB/GYN, 1 is my primary OB and another one is for my high risk thing. I have to see my high risk doctor weekly since i was 19 weeks prego. Now I am 31 weeks and this is my first child.
