Re: Isn't wool itchy?!?

If you rub it up against your skin and it feels scratchy or itchy then it would bother my children, but what we have is soft and not scratchy at all. Lanolizing makes it even softer!
It all depends on the type of wool you use. I have had wool sweaters that weren't itchy and other that were. We use only use merino and bfl.
Peace fleece can be rough, but with repeatedly lanolizing it and it becomes softer.

Re: Isn't wool itchy?!?

I have only tried a handful of things, but there sure is a BIG difference with which type of wool you use.
So far I have an aristocrat- feels scratchy/itchy to me but is so functional for nights and ds doesn't mind. I have a wool interlock soaker that's pretty soft, much less scratchy, but the least scratchy of all has to be the kozy and they're easy to get, readily available and cute as heck.It practically feels like cotton to me.
I'm planning to do longies for next winter (a little late to revamp the stash for this year) and I think I'm going to go for knits like kozy.

Blue faced leicester is called "poor man's cashmere" -- it's heavenly.

As a side note, the lanolin that I spray on his longies has actually cleared up almost all of London's eczema. It was like a miracle.

I used to think the same thing, until I got some really good wool. I used to think that the wool from my old, itchy sweaters would be the same wool against my babies skin- totally different though!

it all depends on the wool as you've probably already read

Re: Isn't wool itchy?!?

I "thought" DD's longies were soft but...... She hates them now and will cry and pull at them when I put them on her. It is so bad I just made a cover out of supper soft cashmier, and she wont even wear that. So I guess it depends on the LO???
