Exclamation Exercise accountability thread week of Aug 18

Here's hoping for another great week!

I don't know how my steps will be this week because I'm starting to feel VERY pregnant... trying to strike a good balance between enough exercise and not overdoing it.

Monday: We painted our master BR today and had a nice walk between coats of paint. Total steps: 4902.

Tuesday: Exercise study day (5 min. treadmill warmup, 10 min. treadmill cardio, 10 min. stationary bike, 5 min. cardio aerobics, 10 min. stretching/cool down). More painting, too, and shampooed the bedroom carpet. Evening walk with DH. Total steps: 4912.

Wednesday: Lots of time on the computer (working), but ran errands and had a 1.5 mile evening walk. My pedometer didn't record the walk (worth about 3200 steps)! Total steps: approx. 4500.

Thursday: Treadmill stress test for my exercise study, lots of errands and an evening walk with DH. Total steps: 5998.

Friday: BUSY DAY! Morning work on the computer, then running errands on campus (with some speed walking), initial visit with new midwife (out of town), finally a nice walk with DH. Total steps: 5400.

Saturday: Walked downtown with a friend, then did errands and jobs at home, went to a soccer game with DH (speed walking to and from), then evening walk with DH. Total steps: 5428.

Sunday: Lots of work putting the remaining furniture back in our master BR and organizing it. Evening walk with DH. Total steps: 5517.

Re: Exercise accountability thread week of Aug 18

I probably won't have much exercise at the beginning of the week this week because I did a 22 mile bike ride on Sunday and I have a final on Wednesday. But I'll do my best to work in time.

Monday - jog/walk 2 miles with kids
Tuesday - walked with kids
Wednesday - nothing, taking final
Thursday - nothing, recovering from final
Friday - 6 miles bike w/ trailer, 30 minutes trampoline, upper body strength training
Saturday - 10 miles bike w/ trailer, stretches
Sunday - 22.5 miles bike

Re: Exercise accountability thread week of Aug 18

I'm new to this! I'm guessing I just put how much I've done this week? Where do I get a step counter and is it really necessary?

Monday - 30 minutes elliptical, 15 minutes ab exercises
Tuesday - 30 minutes elliptical, 20 minutes abs
Wednesday - 30 minutes elliptical, 20 minutes abs
Thursday - day off

Re: Exercise accountability thread week of Aug 18

Step counters aren't necessary--just helpful, in my opinion. When I need more exercise in a given day, it's pretty obvious from the low number of steps. I try to average about 5000 steps/day, which is roughly 2.5 miles.

I wear mine from wake-up to bedtime, except when I'm having a bath or something. So I DO wear mine to exercise sessions. Not every activity gets picked up--biking, for example, doesn't generally make any difference in step count. So they're not infallible.

Most sports stores have them, and you can also get them online. Just google "pedometer".
