Re: If you could quit, would you?

Nursing isn't my job. It's who I am. There isn't enough money in the world that would make me want to quit doing what I love. I love my children with every ounce of my being but I love being independent. I would NEVER under any circumstances allow my husband to be a sole provider. I don't care how much money he makes. Some people are amazing SAHMs. I'm not. I'm a much better WOHM. Every person has to do what works for them and their situation, but there isn't anything that would make me want to walk away from nursing. If for some crazy reason I inherited a fortune, which we can only wish, I would still do humanitarian/volunteer nursing, maybe get my Master's in CRNA or FNP.

No, I would go crazy. I love work. I work at home as a freelancer. I'd probably cut back, though!

No, I love my job. I run oncology clinical trials. I would keep on going even if I ran into buckets of money.

Re: If you could quit, would you?

I love my work and it is part of my identity, but it is also very stressful and makes staying healthy a challenge (I have a chronic medical condition that flares up with stress). If it were a fantasy world in which money were no object, what I'd do would be to take a one-year leave of absence to see how well being a full-time SAHM suits me. Then I'd make my choice!

I would still work. I'm afraid if get lazy without it and I definitely wouldn't get enough adult interaction. I work in software quality assurance (software engineering) my kids are 4 and 8. I do want to continue working less than 40h though, currently I do 24 and have worked only 24-30 since my oldest was 2y.

Honestly this kinda has happened, my husband has done really well and if we didn't decide to upgrade our house last year I could have stopped working years ago. But my family runs better if I'm not with my children 24x7. Maybe sad but true.
