6.5 year old, night diaper solution needed
Years and years ago I sold off all of our cloth because my lovely little had been day time dry from 20months on.
Fast forward, she still wet the bed every.single.night. Heavily. Has absolutely no conscious thought regarding waking and using the toilet. For the past year or two I've been buying the overpriced Goodnight brand products, after she outgrew diapers and pull ups. For a long time I stashed up on the Goodnight reusable pants (think something like Grovia, it's a pull on shell you stuff with the disposable insert.) For the life of me I cannot find the disposable inserts anymore! I have tons of these pull on pants wasting away haha. The all disposable Goodnight pants (pull up style things) are stupid expensive too!) So here I am, looking again at cloth diapers. I thought for sure she would be night dry by now! What's your recommendation for utilizing the Goodnight pants I already have? Cost is a problem, which is why I am giving in and searching for reusable again! Thanks Mamas Advertisement

Can you stuff them with flats or prefolds?

Yeah I would probably say flats for trimness otherwise prefolds for less folding. I'm not sure you'd find another single insert with enough absorbancy. Plus good price. With prefolds you have to get an idea of the length you need and buy accordingly. Flats are also adjustable in that regard.
I will say that I wonder about the speed of absorbancy though, how waterproof are the goodnights, are the PUL like? If not, you might need something that absorbs fast. I thought BG might make a Microfiber insert/doubler with stay dry on top that you could use for a topper either on a flat or maybe a griffin baby hemp insert but with a quick search I didn't see one. My big kid gotos if you need a full solution are super undies or snap ez fleece pocket trainers (with DS who night PLed at 5.5 but they go larger). DD is using Flips but she is 4.5 and petite still on the mid rise. For her trainers I get cases of gDiaper inserts from amazon I feel like they are priced okay given we only use one a night. Most of the time it holds her output though we have phases when it doesn't, so I have put a cloth doubler or a thin washcloth behind it. Due to sensitives DD does better with disposable inserts ![]()

Ooh, forgot about gdiapers. We always stuffed them with reusable inserts.
I would say these pants are very similar to an AIO pull up diaper bred with a gdiaper. The liner does appear to be PUL. I've never had luck with prefolds or flats. They just don't seem to absorb well. Perhaps buying already used and prepped prefolds, but size is indeed friendlier to a shaped insert solution.

Re: 6.5 year old, night diaper solution needed
Kijani Baby makes a nighttime training pants for kids up to 6 years, but the large size fits my 6.5 year old. It's an all in two style pull up, so we can sell you just the soaker inside...send me a message if you're interested - the soaker alone would be $9

I still do flats and pins in pull on covers on my 7yo overnight. It's a bit of a retro method of diapering but its cheap, they dry quickly and we never get leaks :-)
The biggest problem is getting him to lie still for pinning ;-) |

What size/brand of flats do you use? Dd just turned five and has been in goodnights, but I'm so tired of buying them. I'm planning to go back to diapers, maybe flats/covers, as soon as we get home from vacation.
I have a few GMD large flats and thirsties L covers I'm going to start with.
