Can anyone give me a reason why to forward face at one year?

My niece is a carsick FFer. I don't think SIL is much into car seats or ERF, even though she is a DS member & generally a pretty diligent researcher. It wouldn't have made a difference, though. That kid booted after 10 min RF in a moving car from birth until she flipped at just over a year that played a part in their decision to turn her at that time. Now (nearly 5yrs old) she's much better, but does still occasionally get sick if the ride is especially long or the conditions bad.

The most common ones I hear are that the seat wouldn't fit RFing (so many people buy those stupid three in ones!) or that it makes them feel better to be able to see baby. Personally it made me feel better to know that my child was as safe as I could make them, but apparently I'm weird.

Our biggest challenge has been DS's size. He outgrew the Boulevard 70 by height at 2 and we had to buy a new car to accommodate the Radian (or any taller carseat) so he can rf longer. Not many people are willing (or perhaps able) to buy both a new car and a new carseat just to ERF.
