My first born turned 3!

On May 13, 2004, I went to my Dr.'s office for my normal 35 week checkup. I had a wonderful pregnancy up to this point. Planning on a Bradley Birth.

I go into my Dr's with plans for a day trip to Dallas (about 3 hours north of me). Routine weight check and BP check (or so I thought). I sit there, and the lady looks kind of strange and takes my BP again. Then she asks someone else to take it. Then they call the head nurse in the office to take it. By this time, I'm thinking somethings a little off. They send my back to the exam room and have lie down.

A few minutes later my Dr. comes in says, "I've got some bad news. There's 2 kinds of toxemia. One kind of sick kind and a really bad, very sick kind. It looks like you've got the really bad, very sick kind. It looks like you may be having a baby today. "

At this point I started freaking out. I'm 35 weeks. I can't be having a baby today. I'm not ready. Everyone in my family goes past their due date. I was expecting a baby in about 6 weeks or so.

Well, he sends me to the hospital and I get admitted to get some tests run. They run blood work on me and when it comes back at noon, my Dr. comes back with worse news. " It looks like it's worse than we thought." I am in kidney failure and on the verge of liver failure (or whichever comes first. I forget. LOL) "We have booked the OR for 2pm. We've got to get this baby out before you get sicker. "

We call everyone and tell them, and I'm bawling my eyes out. I'm on mag sulfate and feeling terrible. Off to the OR for prep and while getting my spinal, I'm puking. Dead

But they lay me down, and a few minutes later, I hear this loud cry. It's a girl. (which we knew). She looked great.

Emory Lynn was born at 2:52pm weighing 4 lb 3 oz. and 17.5 inches long.

It turned out that she was breech too. I was able to nurse her and she latched on really well. I was in ICU the whole night (and missed the ER season finale. LOL)

Luckily, she never spent a moment in the ICU and never had any problems except being super tiny. Her preemie clothes swallowed her.

She was born on Thurs. afternoon and by Sunday, we were bringing home a 3lb 15oz baby.
Here she is in her carseat. (That's a Gerber preemie hat on her. LOL)

More pics from her 1st week.
Latching on to Daddy's nose.

Mommy and daughter. She's "milk drunk" here.

She is 3 weeks old here. Just for size.

About 5 weeks here in preemie clothes. And yes, those are SCRABBLE letters.

And here she is last week, shopping in our house.

She's grown up so much. She is so outgoing and talkative and so much fun to be around. She is all girl and loves to nurse and wear her baby dolls. I am so glad that God sent her to us!!!

Wow! how she's grown!

Mine will be 3 this year too and it's blowing me away.. lol

Hope your second child's birth wasn't so tramatic for you! I spent 10 weeks being freaked out by my doctor telling me they might have to induce me early because of Pre E. Never happened. LOL Matter of fact, I never even had it.. Stupid Doctors!!

Glad everything turned out good for you guys!!

Well, not so traumatic, but not what we planned. We were attempting a VBAC (Bradley again) and I went to the hospital too early. They monitored me in the bed too long (for my comfort) and I wasn't doing well managing my pain in bed. About an hour in the bed, BP shot up and b/c of Emory's situation... (and I was only to a 4) my dr. sent me to the OR. But I was much more prepared for the possibility of a c/s and recovery was super easy this time.
