OT Birth control pills?
This isn't meant to start a debate so please lets not get out of hand.
The reason for my post is that I had my tubes tied after my last baby. Since I stopped nursing her about 6 months ago (she was 15 months) my body has been rebelling against me!!! My face is horribly broken out, the weight is so hard to budge, my pms moods are horrible!!!!! I hate the way I feel/act when its about to be that time of the month. It lasts for days before. Here recently my body has decided to run on a 35 day cycle (the last 2 months) but my pms starts when it would for a 28 day cycle so I'm miserable for 2 weeks, one cause of cramping, bloating, moodiness and then another one actually bleeding. So I'm strongly considering going on the pill again just to clear up some of these issues. Now I know that some women gain on the pill, my body has aways done the opposite, I also used to have clear skin. I know some of the skin thing is my age, I've heard of lots of other ladies my age (32) that have the same issue, but I believe a lot is hormonal. So I'm just looking for some feedback, please feel free to share.

I usually would say go for it but keep in mind the side effects. I have been on BC for many years (in between having kids). Last year at a regular check up my doc felt that my thyroid was enlarged. I had an ultrasound and the right side was enlarged. I was told to have it checked once a year. I stopped taking my pills a few months ago. I had my ultrasound for my thyroid at the beginning if July and everything was normal. I didn't think anything of it but my aunt had the same thing happen to her. Just throwing it out there to keep on mind.

Re: OT Birth control pills?
Just wanted to say I use BC purely for hormonal control, not BC. When I am not on it, I have horrific, disabling cramps, vomit, etc so for me it's pretty much a no-brainer.
I just make sure I do my other checks as PP suggested. In my case that is thyroid checks and bone density checks in addition to the yearly pap and full bloodwork. The drug I use recently became generic so I only pay $11 every three months, very affordable and totally worth the cost. This is one of those YMMV. Some people actually do and feel better on BC, but many do not. If it significantly improves the quality of your life, you aware of the risks and check for them, and it is affordable, then I would do it.
