Weaning and weightloss

Wasn't sure where to put this. :-/
I have only lost 9# since having ds2. He was 10lbs 12oz, so I'd have thought Id be at least that much lighter! But anyhow my midwife says some women hold onto all the weight until they wean. He's only nursing if he wakes at night now so maybe once a day. But still no change. Just wondering if others saw weight loss after they were completely weaned.
I started working out several months ago and have a pretty clean diet, I also have a significant amount of weight to lose(75lbs).

I had a couple of stubborn pounds that I was able to lose only after weaning completely. In your case if you haven't already I would consider getting thyroid levels checked. Postpartum can do wonky things to thyroid and if it's off weight loss can be all but impossible.

Re: Weaning and weightloss

My body tries to hold onto every pound of weight I put on until I am done breastfeeding & completely weaned. Then I lose it in 10lb increments, like I am exercising for months then all of a sudden after 3 months in a week I will loose 10 lbs. Then it will take another 3 months before I lose any weight...so weird.
Also if I lose any weight while breastfeeding its only like 1 lb a month, so very depressing. Good luck I know it's tough.

I never lose weight after weaning. If anything, I gain it. But I did lose the pregnancy weight and then some with both kids fairly quickly after birth. Just wish I could keep it off and remember that I don't need those extra calories anymore...sigh...

I'm actually a little worried about the weaning process as I tend to lose more during BFing and it will be an adjustment to eat less. Ive been using an app My fitness pal this time around as I haven't been losing as quickly with this baby. That is working, and Ive lost that way.

Re: Weaning and weightloss

I lost a ton in the beginning and then once my son turned a year I gained 30 lbs back. Didn't change anything other than that. :/

I'm hoping I lose it when I'm done!
