It's probably not as gross as a lot of other options out there! I think just plain prunes are supposed to help too, if you can't stand the idea of the juice.

Re: **TMI Post** Natural Constipation Remedies?

I second the magnesium. I used it a lot in my last pregnancy to help with constipation. It was the only natural thing that worked for me (I would have done prunes but have to watch my sugar intake during pregnancy).

Re: **TMI Post** Natural Constipation Remedies?

Ugh, I was really disappointed to find constipation such a problem during pregnancy, too. Totally unexpected. Water water water, and also fiber. I was starting to act like Sheldon from Big Bang Theory - organize cereals by fiber content. Count the grams religiously. Beans are crazy high in fiber, but can also make you gassy, so use with caution if gas is a problem. Soda had to go for me. I don't really drink soda, but I love carbonated water and that had to go. Too much gas. Try super upping your water, even though it makes you pee.

Thanks for all the tips! I drink water like it's going out of style, if I drink anymore I may drown LOL. I think I'm going to give the magnesium and prune juice a shot. I appreciate all your input!

You can also use something that helps you squat/hunker more while using the toilet (Squatty Potty is the step stool brand that is popular), it will help make it easier to get out whatever is going to come out.

I recommended prune juice to a friend and she tried it... said it didn't work (she had one small cup) & it was so disgusting that she will not try it again...... It's not that bad!! You don't even have to sip and enjoy. Just chug it and follow up with water lol.

I found that eating a lot of berries like blueberries, blackberries and raspberries worked for me. And it works great in a pie the three berries together.

Re: **TMI Post** Natural Constipation Remedies?

Iron pills that are normally taken during pregnancy are highly constipating. May be check with your doctor if they allow you to take non-constipating pills? I was allowed to take folic acid pills separately & non-constipating iron pills (Blood Builder works best for me!) & I also took Fish Oil Liquid with Vit D by Nordic Naturals. This was the first step to get things going.

Second was to eat vegetables (more-so than my normal intake) & drink warm water.

Third was to eat soft foods like Avocado, well cooked rice, oatmeal. This will make things flow like (I know TMI) toothpaste without hurting other parts.

Fourth and most important (at least it turned out to be in my case) was to reduce sugar intake.

I did not need to take any extra supplements once I took care of the above 4.

I hope things start flowing mamma!

Re: **TMI Post** Natural Constipation Remedies?

I forgot to add: Dairy made my constipation worse. so something to try!
Prunes helped initially, but later it became problematic (may be because of the sugar concentration)
