Weekly chat, 11/10-11/16

Hey all! Thought I'd start a weekly chat thread. How is everyone? It's been quiet in this forum. I don't think anyone has appointments yet this week so there's probably not much to chat about.

AFM, I've been checking out newborn diapers. The diapers we borrowed for DS aren't available this round (they're a set of prefolds and they'll be heading to be used by the 6th or 7th child in a rotating group of mamas! Cloth diapers are amazing!), and DH wants something a little more daddy-friendly. I'm thinking GMD workhorse fitteds this time around.

Today, DH & I are heading to Kalamazoo to go house hunting in preparation for our move. The houses we really liked are no longer available, which is stressful. And DH's parents will be watching DS, which I always stress about. They're fine but for some reason my MIL makes me go really mama-bear when she's around my son.

How are all you?? Any more symptoms? I've been feeling slightly ill in the mornings for the past 4-5 days. I'm 6 weeks today. I don't remember this from the last time around. I had really sore boobs then, but none of that this time.

Re: Weekly chat, 11/10-11/16

Hi Beth! Thanks for starting a weekly chat

This forum is pretty quiet. Nothing much doing here either. I'm not feeling sick, or even really all that pregnant. Which is nice. I feel like it's the calm before the storm.

My MIL makes me go mama bear around my son too I think it's a common thing, lol.

I haven't used GMD workhorse fitteds either, but they're on my wishlist diaper-wise too. We've used their organic prefolds pretty exclusively up until about 2 years old. I loved them. I love the fact that they're cheap, I can bleach them, and they work.

Things here are good! I'm four weeks but already sick. I think my body just isn't super great at handling crazy preggo hormones. I'm still in shock that we found out super early this time but I am glad I know why I'm nauseous with sore boobs and cry really easy! Otherwise I would think I had lost my mind!

I am stalking cloth diapers but not buying until we know this little ones gender. I really and truly don't need much at all. I have a huge diaper stash and I am super excited to get to use it again. I cloth diapered DS until recently but he is a super heavy wetting toddler with man-poop so I have called it quits!! Hopefully my July he will be potty trained but we shall see!

I did buy a beco butterfly II since I loved my borrowed one last time. I did a lot of baby wearing with DS so I'm sure I will do so again!

I also have some maternity clothes on the way already I have mine from DS but I wanted a few new things. I bought a cute running top that says running for two that I am in love with!

I'm stalking baby stuff like crazy too. I'm kind of bummed that our due date is July since I want to knit a bunch of stuff. But living in the Pacific Northwest, we don't have THAT many hot days.

I have a super long girasol wrap I'd like to shorten and/or have made into a mei tai conversion. Or I'd buy another mei tai. I wore DS constantly the first 6 months until I couldn't stand it anymore. I have an Ergo, a BabyHawk, a Girasol wrap, and a crappy ring sling I might tie dye. I'd like another girasol however. I didn't use a wrap until later last time and I loved it. Oh I also have a Moby and hated it lol.

As for maternity clothes, I find myself stalking those too! I'd really like to buy some GOOD maternity jeans this time. Need to wait until I'm a little farther along lol.

How's everyone's bellies looking? I've got nothing except wider hips and a fatter rear lol.

I'm 6 weeks! I have my first dating ultrasound Wednesday! So excited! No real symptoms at all just a bit more tired and when I'm hungry I go from ok to STARVATION in 2.5 seconds. No nausea at all yay! It was awful with my last baby! It's so much easier this time around I almost worry if everything is ok :-/ we shall see Wednesday :-)

Well I just found out today but I've been feeling a little "off" this week and assumed I was pregnant. This morning I woke up STARVING which only happens when pregnant so I just knew I had to test again haha. I also go from okay to starving in 2.5 seconds while pregnant. If I don't have snacks with me at all times I get really nauseous. I probably won't be making a midwife appt anytime soon, maybe in December i'll give them a call. So excited to be here!

Re: Weekly chat, 11/10-11/16

I got some good news this week! But first some back story...

A month before my son (now 15 months old) was born--and only two weeks before his due date--I dislocated my coccyx, which is the end of the tailbone. Yes, OUCH. I could hardly move for several weeks and didn't sit for what seemed like months. It was awful. But I actually was able to still give birth naturally at home--yay for birth tubs that help take off the weight and pressure!

I still have pain from the injury--my tailbone still feels like a bruise. I've always had some problems with hip pain and sciatica since my first pregnancy, but my pain had gotten increasingly worse in the year+ following my second baby's birth. I tried to seek medical help, but no one had satisfactory answers. Then someone told me that maybe an osteopathic doctor might be able to help, so after a long run-around, I finally got a referral to an oesteopath whom I've been seeing now since the beginning of October. I cannot express just HOW MUCH she has helped my body! And she has given me answers that make sense. She said during the tailbone injury, the pregnancy, or the childbirth itself (or maybe all three), I over stretched and likely tore some ligaments in my pelvis. Because these ligaments were injured, they were unable to pull the bones in my pelvis back into the right place after childbirth and after the relaxtant pregnancy hormones went away. So my pelvis went back together in a shifted/twisted way, which has been causing me so much pain. She's been working on gently realigning my pelvis and restoring blood flow to those injured ligaments so they can begin to heal. All this is AWESOME! I have not felt this good in...years. I still have pain, but it is nowhere near where I have been, and I'm not done with treatment yet, so I have hope of getting even better.

Anyway, all that was back story. I haven't even gotten to the good news yet! I was really hoping to get pregnant, but I was also concerned how my body would handle it since I was having so much pelvic pain. And then when I was getting the treatments and feeling much better, I was really hoping pregnancy wouldn't undo everything. When I found out I was pregnant, I told my osteopath, and she said that being pregnant will actually help a lot because it will cause the ligaments to loosen again and enable her to adjust my pelvis even more and put everything back in its place and also help increase the mobility in my right hip (I have limited range of motion because of muscle imbalance). I was so relieved to hear that! So...yep...being pregnant is awesome on top of awesome.

THANK YOU for sharing this! I saw the chiropractor with my last pregnancy because I slipped on the ice early on in the pregnancy and knocked my hip slightly under the coccyx (didnt know it was possible) and my hips have not stopped hurting since!

Things are going pretty well over here! I think I'm Just about 6 weeks and I'm superrr nauseous already which is no fun :-/ my midwife is wanting me to be on zofran due to my low weight but I'm not sure how comfy I am with taking that. It's a hard decision.. If it gets significantly worse I'm going to have to really seriously consider it. Has anyone else taken zofran during pregnancy?

I'm sooo wanting to baby shop but feeling like I already have sooo much that I shouldn't spend the money! We're not sure about finding out the gender as my DH wants to but I don't think I do...!
