Stand Up mixers

So, I REALLY want a beautiful aqua Kitchen Aid...You know..the $250+ one with all the fancy attachment options! Is it worth it? Or are there other notable mixers that are underrated? I have it on my Amazon wishlist for Christmas..but I feel incredibly guilty for having such an expensive thing on there!

It goes two ways. You either use it for everything or you don't use it often and it sits looking pretty on your counter.

Are you a baker?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000308BYE...ing=UTF8&psc=1 No aqua, but I actually prefer this mixer to the kitchen aid I had for a short while. Mine is stainless and I got it for $100. It works very well. If you are wanting all those (expensive!!) attachments you can get for the kitchen aid then this is not the mixer for you.

Re: Stand Up mixers

I love my red kitchenaid! It was a Christmas gift from DH a few years ago. I don't use it to its full potential but I do use it semi frequently when I can get time to bake.

But with that said they do have many uses and attachment options. Anything from shredded chicken to baked goods to ice cream can be made. It is an investment so I would evaluate if you would use it frequently enough to justify the cost.

Tell me more about it.

I never used my attachments. I'm not even sure I still have them. What do you use yours for?

Re: Stand Up mixers

I just have a normal kitchenaid which I use for baking bread and occasionally whipping cream, but it is worth it if you get into homemade bread making.

I do love making whipped cream in mine. Unfortunately, it's too small for my bread making needs. I'd probably need to go industrial for that but I switched to no kneed bread to make life easier.

I use mine for bread making. I just run it 3 times to get 6 loaves. I put the first 2 batches in a large metal bowl for rising & leave the last one In the mixing bowl.

I have the kitchen aide, and love it. The gears broke for the attachments though. I watched a YouTube video to remove them so that it would be in usable condition, with intentions of replacing them & still haven't 6 years later. We used to grind meat. I think I didn't let the meat thaw enough, and that's why the gears broke.

I actually don't have any of the attachments and just use the paddles. Most of my use comes from bread making and batter for baked goods. I would like to get the meat grinder but I don't know how practical it would be and my frivolous spending is on diapers right now

Re: Stand Up mixers

I have a 5qt artisan KitchenAid and I love it. I do make and bake regularly, especially around the holidays. The only attachment I REALLY want is the Fruit & Vegetable Strainer and a couple extra bowls. If I didn't already have a food processor I'd probably want the food processor attachments too. I think if you'll use it it's worth the investment. The KitchenAid I had before this one was from the 60s or 70s and still worked up until like three years ago.
