Leaking! What am I doing wrong? :(

So I just made the switch back to cloth and I am having some leaking issues with DS, twice today.

First he was wearing a fitted made from a PF (the new Workhouse Diapers from GMD). It could be that red was too small, but it seemed to fit nice and I thought the brown would be too big/bulky. He was wearing a Thirsties Duo Wrap cover. And after about 2.5 hours, I realized the bottom of his shorts were soaking wet. It must have just happened because I was holding him 15 min earlier and he was fine. So maybe I didn't have everything on right since he is such a wiggler and I am a newbie.

But then it happened again and this time with a Swaddlebees Pocket diaper (stuffed with an orange edge PF) after only a couple hours max. His pants were soaked again! How do you mess up the putting on of a pocket? Could he have peed out of it?

Please help me, what am i doing wrong!

Thanks!

"usually" with cloth diapers you are probably only going to get a couple hours MAX from a diaper EXP a pocket. I use GMs for most our stash with wool and still at 14months i change every couple hours the most being 3.

Oh I didn't know that. I thought I would have 3 hours. Why do you say especially pockets? Are they not as good?

maybe try changing more often. We change about every 2 hours. Also, maybe your ds is a heavy wetter and you need more absorbency. I've seen some mamas use pfs as inserts but I've heard some say they always have leaks that way. So my guess is change more often and make sure your diapers are absorbent enough. Try microfiber in your pockets. We even have to use 2 at a time

well with a fitted or prefold(with a doubler) you have all around absorbing room. With a pocket you just have the insert with will absorb very quickly if you do have a heavy wetter.

ETA: With a pocket if it bunches any and pee gets through it goes straight out bc pul doesnt absorb. I used pockets some with ODS but really wasnt a huge fan. The only AIOs i can actually use and work for us are the bg organics. I think ive tried over 100 brands and havnt found any i care for besides the organics.

GL and welcome back to cdering you may try a few other things and see if you cant find something that works better for you DS

i think three hours is a long time to go even in a sposie. jmo though. we don't ever go any more than 2 hrs max except at night- and usually even more often than that. i am a complete cd addict though and i actually look forward to changing dd's diaper .

Oh wow I thought PFs would be the most absorbent! Where do I find microfiber inserts?

you can find them anywhere. You can even buy them from the dollar store or walmart. The microfiber towels they sell in the auto section is the same stuff. Plus most of the time you can fold those in 3rds and get even more absorbency

I usually do change more often but we were out both times, guess I just have to get better at that. I used to look forward to diaper changes but now with DS especially, they will not sit still! They flip, turn, scoot away, kick, etc etc! Little boogers!
