Re: New rearfacing video, check it out!

im glad to see the message getting out there. and the video is a good way to do it, but i think there is too much text in there, and not enough time to read it. i am a pretty fast reader, but i had trouble with the longer ones. and there isn't enough time to process it before the next quote comes up. its all good stuff, but i felt like it was coming too fast. the video clips were awesome. i think that is what really gets to people, imagining it is their child in that seat.

and did you see that cute boy in the first pic???? what a handsome fella!

The second pic is a friend of mine's two boys. Why does the govt not make it standard policy to Rear face till a certain age?

Re: New rearfacing video, check it out!

When the state laws were created to reflect the 20lbs rule, there were no car seats that rearfaced beyond that 20lbs. It is very difficult to get car seat laws passed, so they are very behind in this area.
I wish the text was slower also. We did comment on that to the original creator, but it is already submitted, so she can't change it now. She would have to put up another one with it slower. I am not sure if she is working on doing that or not.
Thanks for looking, I was excited when I saw that Jaden came up first. He is my cutie patootie.

I totally agree with the messege, but the use of three point harnesses in the crash test shots is misleading and detracts from the overall credibility.

Re: New rearfacing video, check it out!

There is no three point harness seats used in the crash test footage. Those are all five point harness seats. The one that doesn't have a chest clip is from europe where chest clips are not allowed on car seats because the child by law has to be able to be removed from the seat by one point. The chest clip would be two points and their seats are not allowed to have them. The five points of a five point harnss are the straps over each shoulder, at each hip, and at the crotch. No three point harness car seats were used in those crash tests at all.

Great video! I don't see how parents can see those crash-tests and not keep their children rear-facing. I'll be passing it on to everyone I can, even my local news stations! This info needs to become mainstream so every parent knows that important facts.

Re: New rearfacing video, check it out!

Wow that is a huge difference in those crash tests....I agree it moved kind of fast...but still the main thing that got me was the crash tests. My ds is 20 months and has a Britax Decathlon but is forward facing...he hated carseats and we thought forward facing would help.....I had no idea there was such a difference. I had seen something on TV about it and dh said oh we can't change him back now. I am going to change it now and unless he absolutely cannot stand it then I am going to keep him rearfacing as long as possible....I just got so much crap when ds turned one about turning him forward, from my mom and grandma and everyone. Who knows what they will say now, but I think his life is worth it.

Thanks for the video I will definitely pass it along to my SIL's who both have kids under two and friends too!!
