Re: Do we have a name thread yet?

I love picking out baby names and start out early. I like to have the name picked out before we find out the gender that way we can start calling the baby by their name. We found out at 14 wks this time.

This time we've chosen the name Lainey Iris. It has special meaning to us. Lainey means bright, shining light and Iris means rainbow. This baby is our first after losing our daughter last March so she's the our light/rainbow in the storm.

Re: Do we have a name thread yet?

I think naming the baby is one of the hardest things I've done. I actually went on a semi-mock protest of naming DS for 2-3 months. I got so tired of trying to find a name that both DH and I liked and that I felt would grow with him that I just quit thinking about it or talking about it for a long time. And, DH was tired of it and kept coming up with what I consider to be crazy names (think Bocephus, Aloyicius, Jack Daniel...) that I just gave up. I am not sure why, but Jack struck me one day when I was around 6 months and it stuck. His middle name took a while. We were undecided between Michael (after DH's cousin that passed away a few years ago), Robert (after DH's grandfather) or David (DH's middle name). Since Jack is actually after my grandfather, we finally decided on Robert to honor both of our grandfathers who fought in WWII, met their wives overseas and brought them back to Wisconsin so that our families could be possible!

This time is probably worse. My family is incredibly opinionated on girl's names, so I can't even talk to them about it. My grandma is calling the baby "Sammy" because she needs a name, and I still remember my mom's RUDE reaction to the girl names we had picked out before we knew DS was a girl. The one name I do like, Lilly, is suddenly so popular in my state that I am not going to use it because 3 variations of it are in the top names from last year.

I like the name Alanna, DH says he'll go along with it, but doesn't really like it. I have gone back several generations hunting for meaningful names and LOVE Johanna, but DH hates it. I am thinking this baby is going to continue to be "Baby Girl" for quite a while yet. Especially since DH has declared that he'd prefer her name started with an "L." Oh, well. We still have a few months!

Lisa-- what about Lilliana for a first name then you could call her Lily for short and hubby wouldn't have to

We love Aurora Willow. Josh likes to call her Rory.
If she doesn't look like an Aurora, we've also picked out Charlotte Eden.
If either of those aren't a good fit, we're back to the drawing board.

Re: Do we have a name thread yet?

Cheli-I actually love that name, but one of the girls that from one of my mom's groups (the one we don't hang out with as often, but still see once every month or so) named her daughter that was born in February Lillianna Kate. If that were me, it would really tick me off if a friend named their kid the same name as mine. And, if I were to call her Lilly, there are still going to be a million girls with the name Lily, Lilly, Lillian, etc. in Wisconsin based on the SSA website and I would prefer a less popular name.

I probably would have picked a different name if I had known that in Wisconsin Jackson was number 11 and Jack was number 17. Oh, well. It really does suit him, but I don't like being at the park with 20 kids and there are 2-3 moms yelling, "JACK!"

I LOVE Willow and would have used it if our last name didn't start with WIL.. haha that would sound ridiculous.
Charlotte is my DDs mn, I love it and I have been considering Eden for a first name!
Love your choices!!!
