My cousin who i grew up with and i are the only ones in our family and exteneded families who dont vax. Her mom and my mom are sisters. Her mom turned her into CPS for not vaxing, my mom soon followed in turning me in. It was a long drawn out process and we are lucky to have had the Parker Jesen Foundation to help us and the support of one another.
We still arent very open about it ebcuase of what weve gone through to this point.

no one knows at all, but this is also a very new thing for us. DD has had all her shots except 18 mo and chx px, and she won't have anymore. My sister works for the county where she lives as the vax nurse, and my family just wouldn't get it. So, it will be avoided at all costs! I don't even go to the ped. anymore bc they would give me a hard time.

There are some friends from church that I would be okay w/knowing, but other than that nope!

People in general trust the medical field too much, and don't take the time to investigate things. I wish I would have sooner . If everyone would just take the time to read about things - they too would consider their choices. I'm just not ready to deal w/the reaction of family yet.

We don't broadcast it to the world, but if it comes up in conversation, I'm honest about it.

Our parents know. Surprisingly, DH's parents don't seem to have a problem with it. I was shocked as MIL is very mainstream, doctors and technology are always great (not that they're not sometimes, but you know), etc. My mom was pressured into vaxing my sister and I once when I was two and Ali was a few months. She stood her ground after that and didn't allow us to have any more. So, she obviously doesn't have a problem with our decision.

I have one friend who doesn't vax, and all my other friends that know disagree with me, so I try to avoid getting into conversations about it.

Wow. I'm so sorry you had to go through that! Vaxing is a choice so can CPS actually take any action against you for chosing not to vaccinate?!?! That's so scary!

Anyway, I totally shout it from the roof tops. I want others to be educated about it. Of course, in my very small west texas town it does not go over well and people think I'm a total lunatic. I've always been up for a good conversation on vaxing, homebirthing, baby wearing, co sleeping, breast feeding, etc so I bring those things up all the time! However, now that I've read the previous posters experience I might start thinking twice about who I share this info with!

Amanda, You can't be investigated in Tx for not vaxing. There is actually a CPS policy against it. Plus we have the philosophical exemption. But I know it can be a bit tricky in other states. Still I keep my exemptions around just in case.

I tell everyone b/c I want everyone to have the information. Most ppl don't research it at all and I feel like I'm giving them a different viewpoint.

Well, that's a relief! I also keep my exemptions handy even though DS is homeschooled and DD is only 11 months old.
